About Me - The Miniature Life

Welcome to The Miniature Life

The Miniature Life began as ‘The Miniature Kitchen’ back in 2016 while I was studying at University. It evolved from my, often failed, attempts at cooking fun and yummy food. I learnt over the years watching my father and various aunts cook and independently learning from cookbooks and shows. It all culminated into a true passion for food and cooking – nothing brings me greater joy than cooking for the people I love.

My relationship with food is very much rooted in the understanding of the individual flavours and (interestingly) the historical significance of certain ingredients. I see food as a beautiful map of all the various cultures over the years blending, combining and evolving. It is for this same reason I wish to share the stories behind my recipes – whether it be related to history or simply holds some significance culturally, I will be writing it all in my recipe posts.

My Indian roots and Australian upbringing bring a different lens to all things Indian cooking. Over the years I have found a love for Indian sweets and food and I strive to recreate some of the best recipes that I have enjoyed. Through this website I aim to both educate and inspire. I hope to make many Indian recipes easy, accessible and I hope to inspire you all to create some traditional recipes too.

So a little more about me?

As I mentioned I am of Indian origin but have lived in Australia since I was 11 months old. I recently married the love of my life. He is the most incredible and supportive husband. I work full time in Financial Services and manage this website on the side. My husband supports all my video editing and photography while I curate the content and cook! We are an awesome little team trying to navigate our way through our lives.

It was my father that fostered a love of food and flavour in me, and he always encouraged me to grow. He continuously challenges me and pushes me to do better. He is the reason I ever had the confidence to share my food with people, and he is still why I push myself to learn something new every day.

I hope you enjoy the recipes I share! As always please share your recipe attempts with me right here or via Instagram.

Let there ALWAYS be flavours,

Minal
